Events
A rich programme of events offers something for many different roles in our churches. Retreat options include guided and silent retreats in places like St Beuno’s, creative retreats at Lee Abbey, walking retreats of various lengths, and quiet days in unique settings—such as a narrowboat journey along a tranquil canal—open to anyone in an eligible ministry or support role who is seeking quiet time with God.
Many of the events have been generously subsidised by external grants. To ensure fair access for everyone, subsidised places are limited to one booking per person.
There’s also a range of talks and workshops taking place across the year at St Albans Cathedral.
Subsidised retreats for ministry and church roles
Thanks to generous support from the Jane Cart Trust and Verulam House Fund Trust, retreats listed here are heavily subsidised and open to a wide range of people in Church of England churches across our diocese. Eligible roles include clergy and their spouses or partners, readers, lay leaders of worship, children, families and youth workers (paid or voluntary), enablers (discipleship, pastoral, mission/pioneer), parish administrators and ministry teams.
